Re: 2015 - A Year of the Pitcher

I think the heart of the disagreement is less about the trust I have in OOTP and more about the fact that I'm fine with the fact that the numbers aren't within a historical range. That notion just doesn't bother me as long as it's interesting and internally consistent. What I meant by "trust" is th...

Re: 2015 - A Year of the Pitcher

if we have unbreakable pitching records because we switched the file settings behind the curtain, that's completely artificial and I don't think that's very interesting. If someone makes a strategic decision to that causes some sort of change in the numbers (pitcher wins as in your example) that's ...

Re: 2015 - A Year of the Pitcher

I prefer that consistency if possible, where a player in season 1 and season 100 both have a similar chance of breaking league records, etc... I do hope that doesn't turn out to be the case. What you're describing is a game that never evolves, which is not only unrealistic, but in my opinion, damn ...

Re: 2015 - A Year of the Pitcher

The challenge of adjusting my strategy to the league's peculiarities are not at all the problem; I enjoy that aspect of it as well. The thing is, the peculiarities are extreme , like beyond-anything-that's-ever-happened extreme. A pitcher's league is fine; I have no preference whatsoever whether the...

Re: 2015 - A Year of the Pitcher

Well, it's about that time again... with the regular season looming, here is my annual plea for the Commissioner to address the issue of pitcher dominance and off-the-charts strikeouts totals. First, the data: BATTING AVG. 2015 USA: .228 2016 USA: .234 2015 CAN: .235 2016 CAN: .236 RUNS PER GAME (pe...

Re: Age Limit for AA Level Ball

Guess I'll find out eventually. At the start of the season any player aged 24 or younger can be placed onto the AA roster. If any player on the roster turns 25 throughout the year they can continue to play AA level, however if they move to AAA after turning 25 they can't return to AA, despite starti...

Re: Awards Voting Poll

I'm somewhat ambivalent about awards but I know most people like them, so if the awards are going to be voted on, I'd lean towards doing it in-game, because it would be less work for the Commish. I'm assuming, of course, that in-game voting even works. I've never actually tried it except in solo gam...

Chicago icon Christian Lawrence is available

Architects 1B Christian Lawrence is available. He's in the last year of his contract, so if you're concerned about his age, you can cut ties with him after the year is over. Chicago has a gaping hole in center field, that's the main reason I'm considering moving him. Looking for center fielder who c...
