Sea Gulls Prevail, 3-2, Over Toledo
|
The Duluth Sea Gulls eked out a 3-2 win versus the Toledo Neptunes at Sea Gulls Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Wing-tat Jiang. He was terrific. Jiang, now 3-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. Lawrence Green recorded the save, his 3rd.
Ricardo Rivera, who led the USA in slugging percentage with .614 in 2040, chipped in for Duluth with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the third baseman had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Toledo manager Bill Atteberry. "But we decided not to take it."
The current losing streak for Toledo has reached 4 games.
