Mounties Deal Comets 7-5 Defeat
|
The Hamilton Mounties topped the Kingston Comets, 7-5, with youngster Wilson Meléndez playing a key role. Meléndez went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Mounties in the win. Picking up the win was Wally Howard. He went 6.2 innings, allowing 5 runs on 11 hits. The right--hander struck out 3 and walked 2. The Mounties go to 29-47 with the win.
Meléndez had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a full count sinker from Ralph Lapthorne, he banged a 3-run home run to left-center, giving the Mounties a 7-4 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Meléndez.
"We'll kick back tonight and enjoy this win," said Meléndez.
