Maples Deal Caribou 2-1 Defeat
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Toronto Maples eventually prevailed.
In a low-scoring tilt between the Toronto Maples and the Thunder Bay Caribou, Nick Lane was the difference-maker. The Toronto left-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Lane went 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 11 hits, walked 0, and struck out 3. His record improves to 7-5. Sergio Magana converted his 2nd save in 2 tries.
In the top of the fourth, Lane had one of his most important at-bats: a run-scoring single off Steve Klassen that staked the Maples to a 2-1 lead.
"You don't always need a lot of runs to win," said Lane. "Sometimes you need just one or two."
With the win, Toronto raised its record to 44-41.
