Neptunes Suffer 3-1 Loss to Traverse City
|
Traverse City Bears starter Ward Covey turned in an exceptional performance against the Toledo Neptunes at The Den, resulting in a Traverse City win, 3-1. Covey, the winner, moves to 6-3. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 1 walk. Earning the save was Alberto Espinoza. He's now cashed in 15 of 16 save opportunities.
The Bears got a big at-bat from third baseman Sean Lane. For the game, Lane was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 15th home run of the season gave Traverse City a 2-0 lead.
"Every loss stings," said Toledo manager Bill Atteberry. "This one is no exception."
With the win, Traverse City pushed its record to 56-45.
