Joe Garland said his performance in 2041 was a "statement" to the entire league.

"As an impending free agent you feel like you've got something to prove, something to work for to ensure that next contract," said the Owen Sound Waveriders pitcher, who is seemingly heading for free agency.

The bullpen ace certainly proved himself this year, and he has won the Canadian Lake Ontario Relief Award.

The Ajax, Canada native had a 1.75 ERA this season over 72 innings of work. He made 63 relief appearances and had 35 saves, 81 strikeouts, 23 walks and a record of 7-5. Opponent batters hit only .184 against him.

Alexis Clément of the Windsor Vigilantes finished second in voting, while Gah-fat Liang of the Thunder Bay Caribou finished third.
