Hasegawa Too Tough, Blanks Mackinac Island
Sunday, April 28th , 2041
The Pointe Pelee Monarchs did little to support starter Yakumo Hasegawa against the Mackinac Island Cougars, but it turned out he didn't need the help.
The right-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Cougars, striking out 12 and surrendering 4 hits. The performance from Hasegawa allowed Pointe Pelee to escape with the 3-0 win despite an anemic offense.
"Nobody came to me and said 'Yakumo, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Hasegawa told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."
In 6 starts this season Hasegawa has compiled a 2-2 record and a 3.43 ERA.
