Jiang Sizzles in No-Hitter
|
In a dominant outing, Wing-tat Jiang of the Leamington Mariners totally silenced the bats of the Manitoulin Island Royals, finishing with a no-hitter.
In the 4-0 victory, Jiang faced only 29 batters, surrendered no hits, had 8 strikeouts and 1 walk.
"Honestly, I didn't even know the situation was what it was until the seventh inning," Leamington manager said. "I happened to look up there to see how many hits we had gotten, and I happened to notice that they hadn't gotten any."
Commenting on the defeat, losing manager had a "pretty simple" analysis of the game.
"The Mariners had all the hits and all the runs, so they won," he snapped. "But yeah, Jiang pitched a heck of a ballgame."
This season, Jiang has fashioned a 8-8 mark and 2.69 ERA in 137.1 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .242 against him and he has logged 130 strikeouts.
