Traverse City Gets 8-1 Win
The Traverse City Bears trumped the Duluth Sea Gulls, 8-1, at Sea Gulls Field. Traverse City second baseman Gary Ford was terrific. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Ward Covey, the winner, goes to 4-0. He allowed 1 run on 5 hits, with 2 walks and 1 strikeout over 6 innings. The Bears, now 15-6, have been playing some good baseball.

Ford contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Traverse City in the top of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Ford took a slider from Yaichiro Yamamoto and stroked the home run to center. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Bears to leap in front, 3-1.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Ford said.
