Ricardo Rivera was a major contributor to the 8-4 Duluth win over Detroit. The Sea Gulls third baseman was 4-5 with 4 doubles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Yaichiro Yamamoto got the win, improving to 1-3. He worked 7.1 innings, giving up 3 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 1. The Thunderbirds drop to 9-17.

With Duluth leading 2-1 in the top of the fourth, Rivera hit a fastball from Ralph Baxter for a run-scoring double. It was his 5th double of the season and put the Sea Gulls ahead, 3-1.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Rivera told the Duluth Observer.
