Williams Sends London Bats to Deep Freeze
There was no spell, no black magic -- just good pitching.

Ray Williams of the Green Bay Golden Eagles blanked the London Eclipse, 4-0, at Northwood Park today, and he did it the old-fashioned way. After finishing the 1-hit, complete-game shutout, he was all smiles.

"I threw a lot of my pitches for strikes in this game," Williams said. "I mixed it up and tried keeping these guys off balance."

Williams walked 1 and struck out 7 in the victory.

"He was throwing his breaking ball for strikes and we never capitalized on any of his mistakes," Eclipse manager said later.

Williams has made 23 starts this season, posting 8 wins and 7 losses. Opposing clubs are batting .240 against him and he has 126 strikeouts in 144.1 innings with a 3.99 ERA.
