Comets Beat Visiting Mounties, 4-3
|
The timely hitting of Bill Balcom helped the Kingston Comets down the Hamilton Mounties, 4-3. Balcom was 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 runs for the Comets. Kingston reliever Santiago Costa picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Wilford Ferguson took the loss. At 14-18, the Comets claim 5th place in the North of the Border.
Esteban Chapa drew 1 walk in 5 trips to the plate for Kingston. The two-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring walk off Jon Atkinson. It was his 13th walk of the season.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Balcom told the Kingston Today.
