Comets Lay Egg, Lose 13-2 to Detroit
|
The 2054 season is getting uglier for Kingston.
Thunderbirds right fielder Stan Gillis put his stamp on his team's 13-2 win over the Kingston Comets. Gillis went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs for Detroit in the contest. Brian Miller, the winning pitcher, improved to 3-2. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 1.
Karel van de Linde was 1 for 5. He drove in 2 runs for Detroit. The five-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a 2-run single off Joe Perkins. It was his 33rd hit of the season.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Gillis.
The losing skid has reached 6 games for Kingston.
