The Manistique Night Train shut out the Whitby Kingfishers, 4-0, behind the strong pitching of Ron Stanton. Stanton surrendered only 4 hits in recording the complete-game victory, and struck out 9.

Following the last out, Stanton appeared to celebrate a little too boisterously for Whitby manager , who could be seen scolding the famously outspoken right-hander as the clubs left the field. Stanton's own manager then intervened with some words for his counterpart.

The Kingfishers skipper would not comment on the exchange but, at the Night Train press conference, Stanton confirmed that it was regarding the celebration.

"He basically told me I was being a lousy winner," Stanton said.

"And I told him he was being a lousy loser," Manistique manager added.

This season to date, Stanton has a record of 5 wins and 6 losses with a 4.52 ERA, has appeared in 23 games and struck out 55 in 67.2 innings.
