Callahan Slugs Sea Gulls to 8-5 Win
The Duluth Sea Gulls topped the Detroit Thunderbirds, 8-5, with left fielder Frank Callahan playing a big role. Callahan belted 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for the Sea Gulls in the win. Duluth reliever Bruce Peraca picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Juan Bello absorbed the loss. Bill Lutz earned the save for Duluth, his 5th of the year.

Duluth took a 6-5 lead on Roland Hubert's 3rd home run of the season. The solo home run came off Detroit pitcher Juan Bello in the bottom of the eighth.

"I know we have our doubters," said Detroit manager Michael Vallery. "But I still have high hopes for this team."

The Sea Gulls go to 15-27 with the win.
