Toledo Squanders Big Game by González
The Toledo Neptunes could not turn a fine performance from third baseman Luis González into a win. Instead, the Detroit Thunderbirds prevailed, 13-9. González went 4-4 with 2 home runs and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. The Thunderbirds raised their record to 19-28.

Paul Mueller had a big 2-run double for the Thunderbirds in the top of the fourth inning. With Detroit leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a splitter from two-time All-Star Júlio Castro and swatted a double to right. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Thunderbirds ahead, 3-0.

"I don't lose sleep over a loss," said Mueller. "But I have better dreams after a win."
