Wickett Leads Sea Gulls to Win
The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Duluth fans at Sea Gulls Field.

The Duluth Sea Gulls defeated the Traverse City Bears, 13-4, at Sea Gulls Field. Leading the charge for Duluth was designated hitter Jerry Wickett. He went 4 for 5 with a home run, 2 triples, and a double. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. The Bears, now 20-32, have lost 7 in a row.

Duluth right fielder Javier Castillo contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 28th hit of the season and put the Sea Gulls ahead, 4-2.

"I warned the team before the game," losing manager Jim Burns told reporters, "that I'm wearing the same pair of undies until we win."
