Comets Stumble, Lose to Neptunes
|
Woodrow Butterworth, who is tied for 8th in the USA in quality starts with 6, was terrific for the Toledo Neptunes in his team's 9-0 triumph over the Kingston Comets. His performance earned Butterworth rave reviews. The winning pitcher was Butterworth, now 4-2. He tossed 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 4. The victory gives the Neptunes a record of 39-18.
Carlos Figueroa had a big solo home run for the Neptunes in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Toledo leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a sinker from Yakumo Hasegawa, who finished 5th in the CAN in strikeouts with 177 in 2051, and punished it. The result was his 8th home run of the season, which put the Neptunes on top, 2-0.
"Woodrow showed what he's made of," said Toledo manager Bill Atteberry.
