Duluth Triumphs with Late Surge
|
The Chicago Architects got a superb performance from pitcher Al Pellerin, but the Duluth Sea Gulls still won the game, 7-3. Pellerin threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Jesús Hernández claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. His record stands at 3-6. The win puts Duluth at 44-40 this season.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Alejandro Escobar? The Duluth shortstop had a bases-clearing double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Sea Gulls on top, 6-2. For the game, Escobar had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Said Duluth manager Alex Wobbema: "We squared some balls up."
