Mounties Suffer One-Run Loss at Owen Sound
|
Waveriders Ballpark was the site of a tense game between the Hamilton Mounties and Owen Sound Waveriders.
The Waveriders grabbed a win, 3-2, at Waveriders Ballpark, overcoming a fine effort from Hamilton pitcher Roy Lapointe. Lapointe went 8 innings and allowed 3 runs. The winning pitcher was Maynard Nicholson. He's now 8-5. He went 5.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits for the Waveriders. Kyle Potter, who leads the CAN in saves with 25, earned the save for Owen Sound.
The Waveriders got a big at-bat from left fielder Josselin Leroy. For the game, Leroy went 1-2 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 16th home run of the season gave Owen Sound a 2-0 lead.
"Every play was important. Every out was important," said Waveriders manager John Meeker.
The win lifted the Owen Sound record to 48-36.
