Caribou Earn 6-5 Win Versus Maples
|
The Toronto Maples got a sterling performance from pitcher Sam Goerts, but the Thunder Bay Caribou still prevailed, 6-5. Goerts threw 7.1 innings of 1-hit ball. With the win, Thunder Bay pushed its record to 48-39.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Thunder Bay trailing 5-4, Jamal Amador hit a splitter from Júlio Castro to center for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Caribou had a walk-off win.
"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Amador told the Thunder Bay Gazette. "Whatever it takes."
