The Owen Sound Waveriders beat the Thunder Bay Caribou, 4-0. Owen Sound pitcher and Whitby, Canada, native Walt Connel led the way. The winning pitcher was Connel, now 6-10. He tossed 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. The win puts the Waveriders at 48-51, while the Caribou drop to 51-48.

Owen Sound needed the clutch hitting of Larry Wells to notch the win. The right fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Waveriders on top, 1-0. For the game, Wells had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Thunder Bay skipper Daniel Mays, "and it cost us."
