Waveriders Fall Short, 4-3, at Thunder Bay
|
The Thunder Bay Caribou topped the Owen Sound Waveriders by a score of 4-3. Leading the way was first baseman Wade Hepburn. Hepburn was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Caribou. Steve Klassen, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 4 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 12-3. Lee tai hoi Liang converted his 3rd save in 3 tries.
Jamal Amador, who is tied for 3rd in the CAN in extra base hits with 38, aided the Thunder Bay cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the right fielder was 2-3 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 runs.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Amador told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
