Maples Squelch Mounties Offense in Shutout Win
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Toronto Maples and Hamilton Mounties.
Toronto Maples pitcher Ramón Méndez was in fine form, leading his team past the Hamilton Mounties, 5-0. Méndez, now 10-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing no runs.
With two out in the top of the third, Pete March put Toronto in front, 1-0, with a run-scoring single. The Maples went on to win the ballgame.
"We did a lot of things right," said Méndez.
Toronto goes to 50-51, Hamilton to 43-58.
