The Traverse City Bears earned a close win over the Detroit Thunderbirds, thanks in part to John Kline. The Traverse City right-hander, who finished 3rd in the USA in wins with 12 in 2050, played a key role in the 2-1 victory. The slumping Thunderbirds have lost 6 straight.
Traverse City used the timely hitting of Michael Jackson to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Bears on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Some games build character," said Traverse City manager Jim Burns. "Like this one."
