Windsor Defeated By Caribou, 4-2
|
The Thunder Bay Caribou took Windsor pitcher José Cedeño's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Justice Field. The final score had Thunder Bay getting past the Vigilantes, 4-2. Cedeño went 6.2 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 4. The win belonged to Bob Harris in relief. His record improves to 6-1. Ken Shannon took the loss for Windsor. Don Li was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 7 of 12 save opportunities.
Thunder Bay used the timely hitting of Joe Rodgers to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Caribou on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Rodgers told the Thunder Bay Observer. "You win just by scoring more runs."
The third-place Caribou have won 4 in a row.
