Rodríguez Goes Deep 3 Times Thursday, May 1st , 2053 Players don't hit three home runs in a game very often and when they do, it is something to celebrate. After today, Andrés Rodríguez can celebrate. The Owen Sound Waveriders center fielder powered three into the stands at Caribou Field against the Thunder Bay Caribou. "It's rare that you actually try to hit a home run," Rodríguez told reporters after the game. "Most of the time you fail, if you really try to hit one. But today, I was really trying on that last one." In all, he was 4-for-6 as the Waveriders toppled Thunder Bay by a score of 10-6, knocking in 5 runs and scoring 3 times. "He is blessed with a natural home run swing," Owen Sound manager John Meeker said. "He gets the ball up in the air." Andrés Rodríguez singled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Jason Connel in the 4th, flied out in the 5th, struck out in the 7th, hit a solo-shot off Jerry Powell in the 10th and hit a three-run home run off Quincy Cooper in the 11th. So far this season, Rodríguez is batting .220 with 6 home runs. |
