Detroit Shut Out by Dougherty Friday, July 12th, 2030 Derril Dougherty of the Toledo Neptunes was on fire against the Detroit Thunderbirds at Thunderbirds Ballpark today. He shut them out 4-0 on 3 hits, collecting 12 strikeouts and allowing 1 walk. "The first two pitches I'm looking for an out, a ground ball or a fly ball," Dougherty said later. "I'm trying to get quick outs. I've never been a big believer in trying to strike a guy out from the very first pitch. It's too easy to end up behind in the count doing that."
