Toledo-Detroit Fight Results in Suspensions
Wednesday, September 11th , 2052
Yesterday at Ballpark of Toledo Gray Dijkstra and Loo Chan got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Toledo Neptunes and Detroit Thunderbirds. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game.
Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Dijkstra will have to sit out 4 while Chan would be given a 9-game suspension for their roles in the brawl.
This season, Dijkstra has posted a batting average of .328 with 144 hits in 439 at-bats, 11 home runs and 44 RBIs. He has also scored 57 runs, walked 21 times and compiled a .373 OBP.
Over the season, Chan has made 29 relief appearances with 2 saves. He has K'd 32 batters in 30.2 innings, yielded 9 walks and has a 3.52 ERA. Chan's record this year is 0-0.
