Parrish Booms 3 out of the Park
Monday, July 24th , 2051
His swing was a thing of beauty. Three times John Parrish swung the bat and three times he delivered a home run. It was an awesome sight to behold at Durham Park, but to no avail, for as good as he was, the Ajax Archers were better.
The Burlington Jack Rabbits couldn't capitalize on the big game from Parrish and dropped the contest, 5-4.
The mood in the Jack Rabbits clubhouse afterward was subdued, with several players remarking that they had allowed the Archers to spoil the day for Parrish.
"Some of the boys are beating themselves up about it," Burlington manager said. "They know we win as a team and lose as a team, but it's hard to really put that idea into practice on a day when one of you was playing on such an obviously higher level."
In addition to the homers, Parrish collected 3 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"I got three pitches down the pipe and popped them," the Burlington center fielder told reporters. "Today I was in a groove. Tomorrow I could just pop the same pitches up and go 0-for-3."
John Parrish hit a solo-shot off Peter Thompson in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Peter Thompson in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Peter Thompson in the 7th and struck out in the 9th.
At present, Parrish is batting .238 and has collected 10 home runs, 19 RBIs, .279 OBP and scored 17 runs.
