It was almost a perfect day for Melvin Akerval.

The Bay City left fielder displayed a hot bat, enjoying an outstanding 5-hit day, but something was missing: The Rollers lost to the Saugatuck Joes, 11-8. Akerval told BNN reporters after the game that luck was "fickle."

Bay City manager told the beat writers otherwise.

"There was no luck today," the skipper said. "He got 5 hits because he has a solid approach to hitting and he put it all together, and we lost because the rest of us didn't put it together so well."

Melvin Akerval doubled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Allan Berger in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 5th, flied out in the 7th, singled in the 9th, singled in the 11th and flied out in the 12th.

Currently Akerval is batting .303 with 131 hits and 14 home runs. He has knocked in 54 runs and scored 50 times.
