Powers Homers Twice in 8-5 Win
With third baseman Gerald Powers leading the charge, the Thunder Bay Caribou defeated the Hamilton Mounties, 8-5, at Harbour Field. Powers, who finished 2nd in the CAN in home runs with 26 in 2049, was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs and a double, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. Hsin-ta Fang earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 11-1. Larry O'Connell, credited with the save, is now 2 for 2 in save opportunities.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Thomas Gilles? The Thunder Bay catcher had a 2-run single in the top of the first inning to put the Caribou on top, 3-0. For the game, Gilles had 1 double and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
