Neptunes Pull Out Late-Game Win, 5-4
|
The Toledo Neptunes topped the Milwaukee Eagles, 5-4, at Ballpark of Toledo. Toledo second baseman Carlos Figueroa was a spark plug for the offense. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times. Toledo pitcher Luke Mews earned the win, hiking his record to 4-3. Didier Charles suffered the loss. With the victory, the Neptunes upped their record to 46-40.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With one out, Figueroa hit a curveball from Didier Charles for a solo home run. The Neptunes, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
Toledo manager Bill Atteberry was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.
