Eagles Beaten By Bears, 5-2
|
The Traverse City Bears topped the Milwaukee Eagles, 5-2, in USA action at The Den. The standout performance belonged to Traverse City pitcher and St. Catharines, Canada, native John Nelligan. Nelligan yielded 2 runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. His record improves to 5-8. At 40-55, Traverse City is in 5th place in the South of the Border.
The Bears got a big at-bat from first baseman Bernie Stoddart. For the game, Stoddart went 3-4 with 2 doubles. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 20th double of the season gave Traverse City a 3-2 lead.
"When John is on, he can really move the ball around," said Traverse City manager Jim Burns.
