Milwaukee Wins, 9-8, Over Neptunes
|
The Toledo Neptunes could not turn a fine performance from first baseman Dusty Murphy into a win. Instead, the Milwaukee Eagles prevailed, 9-8. Murphy was 3 for 6 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Reliever Donald Hubbard picked up the win. His record improves to 7-1. Luke Mews, who finished 2nd in the CAN in saves with 35 last year, took the loss. The Eagles move to 51-61 with the win, while the Neptunes drop to 58-54.
Billy Harris drove in one run for Milwaukee. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the top of the 12th. With no one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 8-8 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Luke Mews. It was his 6th RBI of the season.
"We battled our tails off to get this win," said Milwaukee manager Mike Trigwell.
