Bears Edge Past Caribou, 3-2
|
Traverse City turned a good effort from starting pitcher John Nelligan into a win over the Thunder Bay Caribou at The Den. The final score was 3-2 in 13 innings. Traverse City reliever Carlos Arévalo snagged the win, upping his record to 1-0. Ling-kung Liao shouldered the loss. Thunder Bay, with the loss, is still a robust 12-5.
Traverse City got a knockout punch from Bernie Stoddart. The first baseman hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the 13th inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"Games like this one keep the antacid makers in business," quipped Thunder Bay manager Daniel Mays.
