Walker Twirls No-Hitter Against Thunderbirds
Thursday, May 31st , 2046
The no-hitter is one of baseball's truly egalitarian achievements. It's done by the great and the not-so-great alike, and for nearly all of them it represents the pinnacle of a career. Traverse City Bears pitcher Larry Walker had his moment today at Thunderbirds Ballpark, holding the Detroit Thunderbirds hitless and beating them, 1-0.

"Everything was working for him," Thunderbirds manager Michael Vallery said. "He had a lot of late movement that seemed to cause the guys trouble, especially from the fifth inning on. He was in command."

Walker rung up 8 strikeouts, issued 2 walks and faced only 30 hitters in his historic outing. After the game, he spoke to BNN reporters in the Traverse City locker room.

"I really got nervous in the last inning," Walker recalled. "I knew I had a chance at a no-hitter but it was hard to stay calm and concentrate. Thank goodness for my catcher. He told me he would do all the thinking and I could just concentrate on hitting his glove."

This year in 10 starts, Walker has recorded 6 wins and absorbed 2 losses. He has pitched 57.2 innings, allowed 39 hits, struck out 52 and has a 2.65 ERA.
